TWITS Picks: Gameweek 5

We’ve had a week off to celebrate the bosses wedding now we’re back to it. Kieran and myself have had solid weeks, and I think old schoey is starting to be left behind. That being said it’s still very early into the season, so no reason for the shakes at the moment.

Current Standings

1st) Kieran (whelanox): Correct: 12, points 59
2nd) Will (chubbbaaa): Correct: 10, points 42
3rd) Schoey (schoey): Correct: 8, points 25

Review: Right well…this is going rather well isn’t it. 29 & 19 points in the last 2 weeks, and I’m lapping it all up on the beach on my honeymoon whilst the other two struggle to get just past double digits. Life is good.

Review: Right, I’m getting pretty fed up with these sub 10 weeks now. 3 of my home/away picks all ended as draws which is frustrating. Desperate for that big bet still.

Big Bet

West Brom vs QPR (2 Home, 1 Draw, 1 Away)

Kieran (Draw): I think both of these teams have had pretty decent starts considering what the fans were expecting, and I think they’ll both be wanting to continue that. Think QPR would be the happier of the two with the draw but West Brom would not be distraught at all with that result.

Schoey (Home): West Brom are top of the league, playing at home. They’ve also scored in every game and comp this season, while QPR haven’t scored in their last two games.

Will (Home): The Baggies are on a flyer and so are QPR, thinking about where they both finished last season. I’ve gone for the Home side on this one I don’t think it’s going to be a convincing win but I’m fairly confident they get the job done.

Where We Clash

Port Vale Vs Exeter (1 Draws, 1 Away)

Kieran (Home): I still believe in Port Vale this season. I know they have been absolutely shocking but surely a win has got to come from somewhere. Picking this one mainly for our friends over at Ale and the Vale, come on the boys!

Schoey (Away): Well this was my last pick if I’m honest. But what has surprised me most is Kieran’s home win shout? Port Vale winless, rock bottom of the table with -5 goal difference. That’s why I’ve gone for the away win.

Going It Alone

Kieran

York vs Swindon (away): This hurts as always, but Swindon are looking pretty decent and I think they will be good value for a win on Saturday at York. Sometimes you have to sleep with the enemy…of course I wouldn’t be too disheartened if they let me down and lost.

Plymouth vs Barnsley (Home): The soft spot for Plymouth continues, and it’s been good value for me so far. I think at Home Park they will have just too much for Barnsley, expecting a closely fought match and maybe a 1-0 win to the Argyle.

SCHOEY

Aston Villa Vs Nottingham Forest (Home): I know Villa have started poorly, but winning away in the champions league this week may be the boost they needed. I think they’ve got a quality squad that just needed to settle. I think they should beat a lackluster Forest at home.

Cambridge Vs Reading (Away): Cambridge are a point above Reading but have only won 1 in 5, whereas Reading have won 4 and drawn 1 of their last 5 games.

Wimbledon Vs Doncaster (Home): Doncaster are winless in all comps and are joint bottom on points. Wimbledon have won 2 of their last 3 and have the home advantage.

WILL

Bournemouth Vs Brentford (Away): Brentford have made an impressive start to the season unbeaten in their first 3 games. While Bournemouth are searching for their first win still. I’ve watched Brentford play a couple times this season and they look like a dangerous outfit.

Preston Vs Lincoln (Away): Well Preston are having an absolute nightmare start to the season, 1 win and 5 defeats sees them rock bottom of the table. Lincoln are looking like they are up for the fight this seasonthey have been in every game so far and I think they can get the win this weekend.

Sheffield United Vs Wolves (Away): Both teams are equal in the table and again this is going to be a tight game. Wolves have managed 13 goals so I don’t think this is going to end goalless and have bit of an inkling that Wolves get the win here maybe a 3-2.
