TWITS Picks GW10: No One Likes Him, He Doesn’t Care

Is anyone going to stop Schoey this season? He now has a 41 point lead on 2nd and to be honest we are currently just fighting it out to not come last. Obviously a long long way to go, but the bottom two need to pick up they’re game to catch him.

This week, we look ahead to the 10th Tipple Gameweek, with an extremely difficult Big Bet to call, and some excellent matches on offer. But before all that, let’s have a look at our Gameweek 9 performance.

I love you Wigan. Despite having 10 men they somehow managed to get the goal to win the game and save me from joining Will in the Hall of Shame. I was so confident before the week and to be honest I feel a little bit hard done by. Bromley almost scored the goal and assist of the century in the final few minutes just narrowly missing to get the draw, and Southampton, well, how they haven’t scored a goal I will never know. Other results like the Leeds and Birmingham games you could easily see going the other way, but West Ham…I’ll admit that was a mistake. Oh well, we move on to Gameweek 10, I need a strong one.

Schoey: 13 points

Picks
Cambridge 2-1 Bromley (BIG BET) - Home (8pts)
QPR 1-2 Millwall - Home (0pts)
Crystal Palace 3-3 Bournemouth - Draw (5pts)
Birmingham 2-3 Hull - Draw (0pts)
Wigan 1-0 Port Vale - Away (0pts)
Tottenham 1-2 Aston Villa - Home (0pts)

An okay week for me. I can’t be upset with 13 points but only 2 correct results. I’m starting to feel I’m relying on the big bet a lot. Hopefully I can get a few more correct results this week, though going for 2 draws again could be a bit of a risk.

Will: 13 points

Cambridge 2-1 Bromley (BIG BET) - Home (8pts)
Southampton 0-0 Swansea - Home (0pts)
Burnley 2-0 Leeds - Away (0pts)
Crystal Palace 3-3 Bournemouth - Draw (5pts)
Birmingham 2-3 Hull - Home (0pts)
Newport 0-2 Cheltenham - Home (0pts)

Well I think I got away with one this week. Big bet has saved me and the Palace Bournemouth game somehow ending 3-3 was amazing for me and what a game that was. Other than that everything else went wrong for me. Just to highlight the big man’s (Kieran) downfall he only managed 3 points last week and was very lucky to not end up with -10.

Gameweek 10 Picks

Kieran

Bolton vs Cardiff (BIG BET) - Home
I’ve been back and forth about 20 times on this. I just don’t know. I’m going a dodgy Home Win, a 90th minute screamer to win 1-0 after a boring game that never deserved to get the Big Bet…Come on Bolton!

Chelsea vs Sunderland - Home
It’s time Sunderland come back down to Earth I think, and a game away at a decent Chelsea team should do just that. They didn’t let me down last time so I’m backing them to get the result again.

Millwall vs Leicester - Draw
I’ll admit, this one has changed. I originally had Oxford to beat Wednesday, but after watching them play like absolute crap against Wrexham, I just don’t have faith that we’re going to get a result…and less if I put a jinx on them. So I’m hoping, after Millwall have let Schoey down twice in two weeks, they can pile even more misery on him this weekend and give me 5 points.

Gillingham vs Salford - Home
Going a bit safe this week with a fair few Home Wins, but it’s needed after the dreadful performance form me last weekend. Gillingham are on a bit of a losing streak at the moment, but I think that just means they are due a win and Salford, being in on and off form themselves, may provide the chance to get it.

Notts County vs Cambridge - Home
Banking on Country building on their draw away at Sw*ndon in midweek, I think if they can put on a similar performance but keep it tight at the back they should be able to comfortably win this.

Aston Villa vs Manchester City - Draw
Surprisingly, Will helped me with this one. After showing me Villa’s recent form my mind was made up that they would get some sort of result against City. The only reason I’m not going for the win is because City have Erling Haaland.

Schoey

Bolton vs Cardiff (BIG BET) - Away
First time in 4 weeks I haven’t gone for a home win. This may be the most difficult big bet to predict yet, as both teams’ form have been very hit and miss. But every time I have backed Bolton in a Saturday acca they have let me down! Also Cardiff are the table toppers. So that is why I’ve backed an away win.

Chelsea vs Sunderland - Home
Alright, I know I said that I wouldn’t go near a Sunderland game again, but come on. This is too much to ignore. I will be surprised if 99% of Tipple users haven’t backed a Chelsea win this week. Yes, Sunderland have been frustratingly punching way above expectation so far. But if they get a result away at Stamford Bridge I will be seriously shocked. And quite frankly pissed off.

Newcastle vs Fulham - Home
I feel this is a fairly safe pick. Currently I am the least impressed I have been with Fulham in a fair few years. Newcastle also started the season pretty poorly but it’s still easy to see the quality they have. Defensively they have been great, just struggling to score. But recently that seems to be changing. As they have won 3 of their last 4 games in all comps, and scored 10 goals in the process.

Hull vs Charlton - Draw
Two teams that have really impressed me and exceeded my expectations so far this season. Charlton winning 0–3 away to Ipswich in the week shows what a serious competitor they are in the Championship at the moment. But Hull have scored in their last 9 games and won their last 3. They also have the joint-best home form in the league. I think this will be a close, entertaining game that for my sake, will hopefully end in a draw.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Oxford - Draw
I do feel that Oxford should be winning this game. I realise Wednesday have only picked up 1 point at home so far which is atrocious. And have conceded 23 goals so far this season. But if Oxford don’t show up like they didn’t against Wrexham in the week, it could be one of the best chances at a result they will get. And with the dire situation the club is in at the moment, the players have been admirable, fighting for every point they can possibly get. But on the other hand Oxford could show up and hand me -3 or more points, which I’m sure would make Kieran and Wills day.

Stevenage vs Bradford - Home
Both Stevenage and Bradford have been flying high in League 1 this season, but Stevenage have the better recent form, winning 5 of their last 6 in all comps. Also both teams have much better home than away form. So that’s why I’ve gone for a home win in this game.

Will

Bolton vs Cardiff (BIG BET) - Draw
I think this might be the hardest big bet of the season so far. Both teams in the last 5 games have won 3 and lost 2 and both having good wins last week, with Bolton beating Huddersfield and Cardiff beating Reading. We’re going for maximum points because of this.

Chelsea vs Sunderland - Home
I would except the majority of the Tipple league to back Chelsea at home. Sunderland have surprised me this season with a good win last weekend but this Chelsea team should be easily winning this match.

Newcastle vs Fulham - Home
Fulham look to be faltering with 3 consecutive losses in a row and haven’t managed to win away so far this season. While Newcastle narrowly lost to Brighton last week and bounced back at St.James park against Benfica. I’m fairly confident that Newcastle will take the 3pts

Ipswich vs West Brom - Home
Well I didn’t think Ipswich would be beat 3-0 at home last week and I’m hoping that they will bounce back to show they are serious contenders for a top 6 finish. They have the quality in the squad and a manager that’s done it before.

Portsmouth vs Stoke - Draw
Again I’m going for the points I need to make up some ground in the league. Looking at these two teams they’re not having the best of times, with 1 win in the last 5 and 5 draws in there past 10 games combined.

Hull City Vs Charlton - Draw
Both teams are having a brilliant start to the season and way out preforming where I predicted them to be. I’m going for the points on this one, I’m thinking it could be a high scoring game which ends level at full time.
