Well it was better than last week, that’s about the best I can say. All in all a pretty crap couple of weeks for me and I’m starting to fall behind the pack, but if Will has shown us anything it’s that you are never out of the race in Tipple. A couple of good gameweeks and I’ll be right back into it.

Well what a mad week that was! I got my best weekly score of the season so far with 28 points! Thanks to correctly predicting the big bet and getting 5/6 correct, I earned myself 10 extra points. I was actually only minutes away from a perfect week, as Stevenage equalised at home to Mansfield town in the 97th minute! I suppose I can't really complain. The saving grace was that this was a rare occasion where I hadn't backed my picks as a bet, so that would've been typical if it all came in! Also I can't believe Kieran got away with -10 last week, should've been rinsed in the group chat. See if he can redeem himself this week.

Well well well the wheels look to be shaking loose for Kieran, there is a clear gap a merging but it’s too soon too call anything with a good chunk of the season too go. 20 points for myself this week very happy with that 4/6 correct and getting a draw on the big bet not bad at all. Lets hope for more of the same this week.

Bristol Rovers vs Newport County (BIG BET) - Home
What a huge Big Bet, in both the impact on the Tipple TWITS league and more importantly of course, the impact on these two teams survival chances. Having watched the Rovers game on Tuesday night I have to say they look a lot better than their 15 defeats in 17 league games suggests. A brief cameo from new signing Mees Rijks, although very rusty, and a rejuvinated Mola performing solidly in an unknown midfield role, showed the glimpses of life that Gas fans had been longing for all season. If they can take this into Saturday, against a Newport County side who fell to a heavy 4-1 defeat against Accrington Stanley on Tuesday night, they should run out maybe not comfortable winners, but winners none the less in my opinion.
Northampton vs Reading - Home
After letting me down last week, I’ve decided against backing Reading again this Saturday. I do think they have the better team between these two sides personally, but with Northamptons decent enough home record, I feel this will be a close encounter ending in a draw.
Barnsley vs Stevenage - Away
Both of these teams are in very up and down form, but I just feel that in this match the overall season performance may shine through and Stevenage, off the back of a 1-0 win against Peterborough at home on Tuesday night, will come out the winners.
Accrington vs Cheltenham - Home
We can’t really look too much into the 4-1 win against Newport on Tuesday considering the Exiles are having a pretty torrid time of it at the moment, but I think the confidence gained from getting a few goals will carry Accrington through this match to an easy win.
Crawley vs Harrogate - Home
I mean Harrogate have got to be bottom of the EFL for a reason right? And with only 2 away wins all season, I think this will be a struggle for them.
Aston Villa vs Brentford - Home
Villa are still in with a chance of a shock title run to challenge Arsenal, but to do that, they need to be winning games like this. I’m backing Unai Emery’s men to do just that.

Bristol Rovers vs Newport County (BIG BET) - Away
I know I've said it before but this really could be the hardest big bet to predict so far. Two of the worst teams in the EFL will be battling it out in a relegation 6 pointer. Bristol boast the biggest attacking threat with Fabrizio Cavegn. who has scored 9 goals this season and scored a hatrick away at Shrewsbury on new years day. Whereas Newports highest goalscorer only has 4 goals, but Newports goals have been more evenly spread across their squad. I feel if Cavegn doesn't show up that could be curtains for Rovers.
Leicester vs Charlton - Home
To be honest with you, I hope I'm wrong about this pick. Because watching Leicester be useless is rather entertaining. But, unfortunately Charlton have run themselves into a pretty dire patch of form after doing so well at the start of the season. Charlton haven't won away from home since the 21st of October! And Leicester is not an easy away day, even if they haven't been great recently. I think the quality they have in the squad will prove to be too much for this struggling Charlton side.
Ipswich vs Preston - Home
This seems the most obvious pick of the week for me. Yes Ipswich lost to Sheffield utd last weekend but prior to that they were unstoppable. Ipswich haven't lost at home since the 21st of October! Which I mentioned in my Charlton review, because it was a 0-3 loss to Chalrton! But they have been very strong at home since then and presto have lost their last 4 in a row. I would be very surprised if Preston get a result out of this game.
Liverpool vs Newcastle - Home
Liverpool have certainly blown hot and cold this season. Not winning in their last 5 league games really doesn't look good, but I'm hoping their recent European wins will have gained them a bit of confidence. Another factor I have taken in is Newcastle's pretty poor away form this season. Winning just 2 in 11 away games in the league.
Aston Villa vs Brentford - Home
Villa have been very impressive this season. After a minor setback to Everton in a 0-1 loss at home, they seem to be back to winning ways. They have a record of 8 wins, 2 losses and a draw at home this season. Brentford had a good spell over the festive period and new year, but have since lost their last 2 games in the prem. I think Villa at home will prove to be the stronger side.
Tottenham vs Manchester City - Away
Man city havent been in great form recently (in terms of what we expect of them) but spurs quite FRANKly have been pretty dire. I expected a lot from Thomas Frank but it appears managing a big club and playing possession based football hasn't really suited him. They've somehow been very good in the champions league (as have all the english teams to be fair) but as i say, poor in the premier league. I think Man city's world class squad should really be winning this. And it's only a matter of time before Haaland scores a hattrick out of the blue during his 'goal drought'.

Bristol Rovers vs Newport County (BIG BET) - Home
Massive game for both teams really crucial for one of them to walk away with the 3pts. I’m leaning on the side on Rovers win at home. Their last two fixtures against strong opposition in Salford and MK they only lost 1-0 away in both games. Newports form as well hasn’t been much better losing 4-1 to Accrington at home. Not a lot to go on but I’m backing the Gas on this one.
Liverpool vs Newcastle - Home
Liverpool back at home this weekend and will want to carry on the momentum from their champions league 6-0 demolish of Qarabag FK. Newcastle have slipped slightly in recent weeks drawing to Wolves and losing 2-0 at home to Villa. So I’m going with Liverpool Home win.
Tottenham vs Manchester City - Away
Man City haven’t had a great time at the London stadium in recent years. Not really sure what is going on at Spurs currently they seem to have not lost in 3 games shockingly 2 of this in Europe but I’m sure Thomas Frank will take it. I’m putting my trust in Pep on this one I just think his team is far to good to back against especially how poor Spurs have been this season.
Ipswich vs Preston - Home
Ipswich will be looking to get back to winning ways after last week lost to Sheffield United. This will be another good opportunity for the blades at home against Preston who haven’t won in their last 4 games and failed to score in those 4 games as well. This has to be an Ipswich win.
Leicester Vs Charlton - Home
I’m completely basing this one on the fact Marti Cifuentes has been sacked by Leicester. It might be exactly what the squad needs, with the players that are there they should be fighting for the automatics. With Charlton only winning 1 of their last 5 and last week losing 4-0 to Millwall this is a great opportunity for Leicester.
Accrington vs Cheltenham - Home
I’m backing Accrington on this looking at the form they in a much better place compared to Cheltenham. Accrington with 3 wins in their last 5 and convincingly beating Newport 4-1 away last week. Cheltenham have only managed 1 win in the last 5 and have lost 3 on the bounce.
