TWITS Picks GW27: It’s Been Coming…

After a full half-season of us spouting to you lot that we’re experts and we know what we’re on about (admittedly very tongue in cheek), we can now confirm that this is most definitely not the case with the final of the 3 of us entering the Hall of Shame this past weekend. For those of you that don’t know, the Hall of Shame is a list of players who have got a No Wins penalty at some point throughout the season. Essentially a 0/6 week and -10 points. As if it’s not humiliating enough, you then have to deal with the group chat sparking off once someone sends a screenshot through.

So long story short, don’t listen to us.

It’s not about quantity, it’s about quality. Never a truer word said when looking at my results lately, I may be having weeks where I only get 2 or 3 correct, but the key factor is those 2 or 3 are the Big Bet and usually one or two draws or away wins. I’ve had 3 weeks in a row now with this and surely at some point I’m going to get lucky with the others. Coventry outclassed Boro on Monday night it has to be said, so it was never really too much of a worry on that front, but I am a bit disappointed that my 3 bad results only missed by 1 goal each.

But the biggest news of the weekend has to be Schoey, watching his beloved Coventry win with the bitter taste of a -10 in his mouth. I’m sure he didn’t care all that much though to be fair once he saw them leapfrog Middlesbrough to go top of the table.

Schoey: -10 points

Coventry 3-1 Middlesbrough (BIG BET) - Draw (0pts)
Barnet 0-0 Cheltenham - Home (0pts)
Preston 2-2 Watford - Home (0pts)
QPR 1-3 Blackburn - Home (0pts)
Lincoln 1-1 Bolton - Home (0pts)
Tamworth 1-1 Aldershot - Home (0pts)

Well it finally happened.. After a couple of last minute dodges in previous weeks, I couldn't dodge this one. That being said, I couldn't have wished for a better -10 points. As the final game of the week and the big bet was Coventry at home to Middlesbrough. I backed a draw thinking if Cov win or draw, it would be a win win situation for myself. Of course I didn't expect to be 0/5 when it came to the Cov game.. But I'll take -10 to be top of the league again.

16 points for the weekend and a very classy win from Coventry in the big bet on Monday night. Two away wins coming from Sheffield United and Brackley town helped me go top of the TWITS league. Schoey’s had a rough week -10 and couldn’t bring himself to back his beloved Coventry and tumbling down league. I must not laugh along way to go still.

Gameweek 27 Picks

Kieran

Wycombe vs Stevenage (BIG BET) - Home
Don’t know a whole lot about these two teams I have to admit, but what I do know is that Wycombe has won 9 of 16 at home, and Stevenage have lost 8 of 16 away. So going off that basis, the logical and safe pick would be the home win…right?

Swindon vs Crewe - Home
Been quite impressed with how Swindon have conducted themselves lately after a little wobble playing against the teams around them left them as play-off contenders rather than automatics. They’ve come out of that fighting and won 5 of their last 6 matches to fire themselves right back into contention, and now have their eyes on the title rather than looking too far below. If that wasn’t enough, they completely convinced me on Tuesday night, coming fro 1-0 down away at Barnet to win 2-1. Barnet are no mugs, and the second half was some of the best football of the season from them, so I can see them consolidating that with another win here.

Watford vs Derby - Draw
I think Derby the way they’re going at the moment would probably be disappointed with a draw here, but Watford are no pushovers so I believe it would still be a decent result in their chase for a play-off place. The Rams have quietly been building one of the stories of the season this year, and continue to outperform early season expectations as they find themselves going into the weekend sitting pretty in 6th place. I’m not sure a draw here would be enough to keep them there at close of play Saturday, but in the grand scheme of things this would be another good point to collect as they look to continue their solid form.

Wrexham vs Ipswich - Away
Another two teams eyeing those play-off places. Ipswich are pretty much there now but not quite secure enough to start taking their foot off the gas. Now I must admit this pick is a bit bias from me as 1. I don’t want to see Wrexham anywhere near the play-offs during their first season purely out of spite and jealousy, and 2. I would love to see Derby get that final spot for our man Archie. Whether this bias actually helps the situation remains to be seen, I’ve been quite the jinx at times this season.

West Ham vs AFC Bournemouth - Away
Into the Premier League we go, and I will admit I’ve gone between a draw and an away win about 50 times with this one. You look at West Ham and they’ve had a bit of a mini revival, a bit more belief instilled and also a few teams *cough* Tottenham *cough* falling apart around them. All the ingredients needed for a great escape then? The only thing missing? Home form. They’ve won just 3 at home this season, scoring just 17 goals and conceding 27. That is not great is it.

They might well surprise me, but I can’t see past a Bournemouth win or at the most a draw here.

Sunderland vs Fulham - Home
Now to one of the Premier League’s stories of the season. The Black Cats, with their incredible run of form at the start of the season, have dismissed all doubters of their top flight credentials, including us. They have all but secured their status for next season and some, and now find themselves with the possibility of achieving European football next year. It’s been a refreshing site to not see the promoted sides become the whipping boys all year, and I hope that continues this weekend.

Wycombe vs Stevenage (BIG BET) - Home
Although Stevenage appear to have had the stronger back line of the two teams over the course of the season, their away form recently has been as bad as it gets. Losing their last 5 in a row away from home. Wycombe on the other hand have won 3 and drawn 1 of their last 5 home games. Keeping clean sheets in their last 2 convincing wins at home against Wigan and Doncaster.

Swindon vs Crewe - Home
Crewe have been in pretty good form recently but Swindon's home form was too strong for me to leave this pick out this week. 5 wins in their last 6 home games is pretty impressive, keeping clean sheets in 4 of those games as well! Whereas Crewe haven't been great away from home, winning just 1 of their last 6 away games.

Brentford vs Brighton - Home
I will be surprised if this isn't one of the most backed picks of the week. I think it would be fair to say that Brentford have been performing well above expectations this season. Especially in the last couple of months. Whereas the strong, solidified top half Brighton side we've come to know over the past few years seem to be doing the opposite. Just 1 win in the league this year, which was at home to Burnley. Brentford on the other hand have drawn 2 and won 8 their last 12 games! Which is really impressive. I would be surprised if Brentford don't make the most of their home advantage this weekend.

Southampton vs Charlton - Home
Charlton have pulled a couple of wins out of the bag recently, after their pretty shocking form towards the end of last year. That being said their last away game to Leicester was their first win in 12 away games! Southampton however seem to have really turned it on recently. Managing 5 wins and a draw in their last 6 games. They have also only lost once in their last 10 home games.

Watford vs Derby - Away
Watford were looking very solid towards the end of last year. But since the turn of the new one, they have fallen back into their lull of being a bang average championship team. Probably worse than average recently, as their last win was on new years day! 4 draws and 4 losses since then. It certainly hasn't been a promising start to 2026. Derby on the other hand have probably had one of the biggest positive turnarounds since the start of the year, making some great signings and hitting form of late. With a draw and 5 wins in their last 8 league games, Derby should be going into this game pretty confident. Even if they did lose the reverse fixture at home just 3 months ago.

Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool - Away
I think it's fair to say the tricky trees haven't been so tricky lately. Winning just 2 of their last 10 league games. They do have the home advantage here.. if you could call it that. I say that because they have only won once in their last 7 home games in the prem. As far as the premier league is concerned Liverpool haven't exactly been great either. winning just 2 league games since the start of the year. Mind you, they have won 4 of their last 5 in all comps. So they should have a bit of confidence going into this game.

Wycombe vs Stevenage (BIG BET) - Draw
Another extremely hard big bet to choose between and both sides are having some mixed form recently. Maybe Stevenage have found some form with two wins on the bounce at home. They’re back on the road to visit Adam’s park where the host last home game was a 4-0 victory over Doncaster. I’m finding it difficult to convince myself one way or the other so going for the draw.

Brentford vs Brighton - Home
Brentford unbeaten in their last 3 beating both Aston Villa and Newcastle away while drawing with leaders Arsenal at home. Very much the opposite of Brightons form where they have picked up 1 point from the last 3. I’m backing Brentford on this one, I think they have played some very good football this season and with Igor Thiago leading the line, they always look dangerous in front of goal.

Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool - Away
What is going on at Forest are they now destined for relegation? Just can’t see what Marinakis is trying to do. Liverpool have found form now and have a real opportunity to push to get back into the Champions league places. I can’t see anything but a Liverpool win on Sunday could be a question of how many.

Southampton vs Charlton - Home
This was one that jumped out at me as a “has to be a saints win”. Saints with 4 wins in a row and Charlton losing to Pompey midweek 3-1 at the Valley. I have to go Saints to win at home, I think Charlton will be fortunate to get anything here.

Huddersfield vs Barnsley - Home
I’m going for a home win on this one and more the reason I still think Huddersfield get play offs. There form lately hasn’t been great losing to Doncaster and Stevenage on the road. Now they’re back home where they have only lost two this season.

Walsall vs MK Dons - Away
MK unbeaten in their last 5 wining 3 drawing 2 and have made real strides to get into the automatic spots. I really think Walsall have fallen off it the past few weeks, bit of a repeat of last season. Got to go with a MK win on this occasion
