TWITS 1-20 - Premier League
All 3 of us believe that this season could be one of the best in the Premier League, with big money being spent by all teams, and by all accounts a much stronger case for a real title race, and maybe even a bit of a closer relegation scrap (please), have put together our 1-20 for the Premier League. So, here they are, our predictions for the 2025/2026 Premier League season.
1st
Kieran: Manchester City
I think City are finally starting to make a comeback from their disastrous (from their standards) season last year. You can tell what a huge difference Rodri makes to their set up and the way they play, and I think this was the biggest factor in their unsuccesful campaign. They showed glimpses of what they can do in the Club World Cup, and I think we are going to see that continue throughout the season.
Schoey: Liverpool
What do you do when you win the premier league? Spend £300mil on some outrageous signings, and bid another £110mil on a striker. After an incredible first season in charge for Arne Slot, the signings for Liverpool this summer have been possibly not needed. But make me think they will retain the title.
Will: Liverpool
Liverpool have strengthened an already strong squad and got the business done early in the window. This will be a challenging year for Slot to navigate with all the teams around them adding quality to their squads.
2nd
Kieran: Liverpool
With Liverpool, they've obviously spent big this year, and after the success of last season will of course be hoping for another title charge, but I believe this season they will fall short. The league last year was poor, and with City seemingly getting back to form, Arsenal signing some big names, and Chelsea performing well under Maresca, I think we could be in for a much closer title race. Can they do it? Of course, it's just not going to be the walk in the park that it was last season.
Schoey: Manchester City
Seriously quality signings made for a team that doesn’t struggle with world class squad depth. If Haaland can start the season firing goals in for fun again, city could be leading the race from the get go. Signs of Peps ability to lose his head last season are what have lead me to choose Liverpool at the top spot.
Will: Chelsea
Current "World Champions" - This season is going to hard test for Enzo Maresca with getting the squad rotation right. The addition of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap is a massive upgrade to the strike force, they are going to be cruical for Chelsea to secure Champions League football again and challenge for the title.
3rd
Kieran: Arsenal
Arsenal have had a case of 'Always the bridesmaid. Never the bride' for a fair few years now. They are making significant moves in the transfer market with the obvious big one being the signing of Gyokeres. I just still don't feel they are capable of maintaining the ridiculous levels that both City and Liverpool are capable of setting, but they might come a lot closer this year.
Schoey: Arsenal
Most solid CB pairing in the premier league and multiple quality signings made over the summer. One of which of course is world class striker Viktor gyokeres. Born in Stockholm, made in Coventry. 🩵
Will: Manchester City
Having a changing of the guard with KDB leaving. Ryan Cherki is needed to step up to fill a massive hole. As long as Pep's sqaud can stay fit they will be looking to really push Liverpool this season.
4th
Kieran: Chelsea
Champions league football, a Club World Cup, everything seems to be heading in the right direction with Maresca's Chelsea. I predict them to get top 4 again, but much easier this time around, with them being closer to the top 3 than 5th place.
Schoey: Chelsea
The Club World Cup winners showed us what they were capable of over the summer. Another who have made plenty of big signings already, building quality and depth in almost every position.
Will: Arsenal
Arsenal have been a nearly Club for the past few seasons. Finally, they have signed a world class striker in Victor Gyokeres, he will be key to there success this season.
5th
Kieran: Aston Villa
Top 5 was enough for Champions League football last season, obviously there's no guarantee of this again for this year, but after agonisingly missing out on this last season, I think Villa are going to have to hope for the same situation with a better outcome. I just can't see them breaking into those top 4 places. The money being spent and the form being shown by the other elite clubs is just a bit too much.
Schoey: Newcastle
I think the sooner they can cash in on Isak and rebuild, the better. With a very solid midfield, a replacement striker and couple more signings, I think they would have no trouble finishing in a European spot again.
Will: Newcastle
Since the takeover they have gotten better each season, now with 2 champions leauge places and a League Cup medal. They will be looking to cement themselves in the Champions League places. As long as they can hold on to some key players and add some depth into the squad to help in Europe.
6th
Kieran: Newcastle
With Champions League football to focus on this season, I think it's possible that Newcastle might lose a bit of focus on the league situation. I don't think they're going to be near enough to the top 3 or 4 to really compete, the battle will be for 5th place this year.
Schoey: Tottenham Hotspur
The biggest jump in all of my EFL predictions are spurs. With a strengthened back line and the addition of Kudus, Thomas Frank will steady the ship.
Will: Aston Villa
No major signings from Villa so far, they have been consistent under Emery's leadership. Will be key to hold on to Watkins.
7th
Kieran: Brighton
Brighton have well and truly secured themselves as a top class team now, finishing in the top 10 for 3 out of the past 4 seasons (the one in which they didn't they finished 11th). This year they will be hoping for more of the same. I think they are missing a few key additions to really challenge for the higher end european spots. However, with the squad they are building and a few more smart signings, there is no reason they couldn't be challenging even higher up the table.
Schoey: Aston Villa
Loss of loanees with no replacements in sight slides villa out of the top 6 for me. Still a very solid squad.
Will: Manchester United
Amorim's had some time to start getting the players in he wants and signings like Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha are going to need hit the ground running.
8th
Kieran: Tottenham Hotspur
What a horrendous season in the Premier League it was for Spurs. Of course outside of the league they had great success in Europe, and I think the sacking of Postecoglou was a mistake, but the arrival of Thomas Frank breathes a fresh bit of life into their club and with it a lot more tactical nouse. I think they will go well this season, but it will be a bit of a rebuilding year before they can start to really think about challenging.
Schoey: Bournemouth
Impressed last season with strong attackers they have managed to keep hold of. Lost two of their back line but have bought in replacements. I think they’re set for another strong season.
Will: Tottenham Hotspur
New manager Thomas Frank will be looking to bring more stability to Spurs this season. Joao Palhinha coming in this summer will be looking to provide some of that stability into the Midfeild. They still need a few more attacking additions.
9th
Kieran: Manchester United
Another team with a terrible season last year. But for the first time in a long time, I think United fans can start to believe again. They have started to get rid of some of the dead weight, and finally made some good moves in the transfer market. I still think it will be a bit of a disappointing season for them in terms of actual placement, but I do believe this could be the start of the comeback that should have happened a long time ago.
Schoey: Brighton
Loss of Joao Pedro and a few other strong players, but still a very solid outfit as Brighton always are. Will cause some upsets for sure.
Will: Bournemouth
Andoni Iraola has made Bournemouth a solid, hard to beat team. Need replacements for Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez who were key to there success last season. Semenyo and Kluivert will be cruical to their season ahead.
10th
Kieran: Brentford
Brentford enter the season with solid attacking momentum and a few standout assets, but I still have questions over their consistency and defensive resilience. The loss of Mbeumo is significant, though Schade and Damsgaard offer potential. If their midfield creativity holds and Kelleher settles quickly, Brentford could punch above their weight again, but I still think they're a mid-table outfit with flashes of top form, not a top-six threat.
Schoey: Manchester United
Amorim left last season in shocking form. But with 2 of last seasons strongest Premier League wingers added to the squad, surely he can’t do as bad. Can he?
Will: Fulham
Will be aiming for a stable mid table finish under Marco Silva. As long as Iwobi and Smith Rowe can stay fit this season, Fulham shouldn't have to many issues.
11th
Kieran: Bournemouth
After achieving their best ever PL finish last season, Bournemouth will be looking to build on this and establish themselves as a top 10 club. I think that with a few significant departures, most notably Kerkez in defence, they might struggle to improve on that this season. I'm going for midtable finish again, but maybe they could still break into the top 10.
Schoey: Nottingham Forest
Loss of Elanga is a big one and can Chris Wood really do it again? I’m not convinced. Extra European fixtures lead to my prediction of a drop down the table this season.
Will: Brighton
Fabian Hurzeler will be looking to secure European football for the club again. But I'm not convinced the business they have done is goining to push them higher up the league.
12th
Kieran: Crystal Palace
Winning the FA Cup was a moment Palace fans will never forget, but with the new season looming, off field issues are putting a bit of a grey cloud over that at the moment. Their European future is still uncertain, with a decision to come next week, while key players are being watched closely by elite clubs. They still have top half potential, but they way they are going right now I can see them struggling a bit more this season.
Schoey: Crystal Palace
One of my favourite squads to watch last season. Quiet window but outgoings expected. 12th again, who gives a f@#!*
Will: Nottingham Forest
Forest will be looking to go again this season, but will find it harder with European football, can Nuno juggle both? Can't wait for their game aginst Palace this season.
13th
Kieran: Nottingham Forest
A wonderful seaosn for Forest last year, nearly everyone had them to be struggling but they stunned the pundits by finishing 7th, unlucky to not hold their form which kept them in the top 4 for most of the season. However, I still believe this may have been somewhat of a one off. Whilst I don't see them anywhere near struggling, I do think this will be a bit of a consolidation season for them... a bit more boring!
Schoey: Fulham
Recruitment staff on holiday this summer? Snooze fest of a transfer window makes me expect a mid season for Fulham. Still a solid outfit.
Will: Crystal Palace
Big question can they hold on to Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze? Will be a tough season for Palace playing in Europe aswell rotation is going to be paramount.
14th
Kieran: Fulham
I never know what to make of Fulham, I still can't decide if they're a team starting to break into the top 10 elite clubs, and really push for european spots, or a team destined to be forever midtable, and always looking over their shoulder for the slight chance of a survival test. With minimal recruitment, I'm going to take a gamble on the latter this year.
Schoey: Everton
Couple of decent signings, but not enough of a change to expect much of an improvement on last season.
Will: Brentford
Losing your manager and best player is going to put some strain on the team. If they lose Wissa aswell they could be finding themselves in a battle.
15th
Kieran: Wolves
Wolves had a bit of a shaky season last year, and were one of many teams to benefit from the 3 relegated teams being so bad. If it were another season they could have been in trouble. With Counha and Nouri now gone, goals could be a big issue for them. I think they are far more likely to be a struggler than a top 10 contender this year
Schoey: West Ham
Loss of north London white blooded Kudus will be a big one for West Ham. Wilson could be a solid signing if he stays fit, but I don’t expect too much excitement for hammers fans next season.
Will: Leeds
Were way too good for the Championship last season and made it look easy at times. They have made some solid signings with Sean Longstaff and Goalkeeper Lucas Perri. Have good quality going forward in Joel Piroe and Wilfred Gnonto.
16th
Kieran: Everton
"A lovely stadium in the Championship" was almost a reality last season before Moyes steered them clear of relegation. They now have a bit more defensive nouse about them, but I think goals are going to be a major issue. I don't think they will be worried about relegation this season, but it may be close.
Schoey: Brentford
Probably my most harsh take of the season. Based on the potential loss of Wissa as well as Mbeumo. Still clear of the drop zone but could lose a lot of their attacking threat.
Will: West Ham
*Not convinced by West Ham's transfer window so far, Callum Wilson will be wanting to find some form but he will need to stay fit and with the loss of Kudus its going to be a long season for the Hammers. *
17th
Kieran: Burnley
Surely one Championship promoted team has to stay up at some point, right? Between the two automatically promoted teams last year, I think Burnley have the best credentials to achieve this. If a team wants to have any chance of staying up, they need a solid defence, and breaking the record of that stat in the Championship is as good a start as any. I've got them to stay up, just.
Schoey: Leeds
My newly promoted team to stay up. Needed a new goalkeeper and have got one. Strong addition of Sean Longstaff in midfield as well as some other solid signings. Most exciting team to watch in the championship last season.
Will: Everton
Hoping the new stadium will give the team and the fans a lift this season but with finacial constraints its going to be difficult. Looking forward to seeing 6ft 5in Thierno Barry up front, can the big man keep them up?
18th
Kieran: West Ham
With one promoted side staying up, that means one Premier League mainstayer needs to go down. After years of ups and downs and slowly dropping down the table, a few relegation scares along the way, I think the time has finally come for West Ham. I don’t have too much faith in Graham Potter to be able to keep them up.
Schoey: Wolves
Wolves were pretty poor last season. With the loss of Cunha and Ait-nouri as well as a few other solid players, I worry for their safety.
Will: Burnley
Conceded just 16 goals with 30 clean sheets last season. The Signing of Kyle Walker is a great signing bring all the experience with him as well. Scott Parker will need to find a new number 1 with James Trafford leaving for Man City. Unfortunately I just don't see them having the quality going forward to score the goals needed to stay up.
19th
Kieran: Leeds
Unfortunately with Leeds, I just don't see 2 promoted sides staying up. I loved what they achieved last season and if you swapped my predictions for Burnley and Leeds I would not be surprised in the slightest, I just think Burnley may have a bit more grit about them this season.
Schoey: Burnley
Burnley were defensively very solid in the championship last season, managing 30 clean sheets. They have gone on to sign their best loanees from last season, but the loss of Trafford in goal is a huge one.
Will: Wolves
The loss of Cunha, Ait-Nouri and Nelson Semedo removes significant fire power and experience from the already thin squad. Wolves are going to need a couple big signings to help them get out of this.
20th
Kieran: Sunderland
Someone has to come bottom, and coming up through the playoffs, you're more than likely to be favourites for that. An amazing way to go up last season for Sunderland that made for a very entertaining watch, but I just don't see them keeping up with the firepower of the Premier League.
Schoey: Sunderland
Sunderland have had a very busy transfer window. But new players need time to settle and gel, while the rest of the squad are far from premier league standard. They’ll need a strong start to the season, as half of their new signings won’t be available come mid December when AFCON starts. Do I think they’ll have a record low finish? Sadly not, no. But as a very salty Coventry city fan, I couldn’t put them any where but last place.
Will: Sunderland
They are going to have a go and hopefully will make more of a fight than Southampton did last season. Have added well to the squad including the signing of Granit Xhaka who will bring some much needed experience to the team. I think its going to be too much for them though the step up in class is massive compared to Championship. I know I'm going to enjoy The Tyne–Wear derby.
