TWITS Picks GW20: It’s Anyone’s League

Well, what an interesting few weeks it’s been. The two at the top have completely fallen off the rails and Will has made the most of it to claw his way back into the title picture. Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year, and that your Tipple results were a little better than Kieran and Schoey’s…

Thank the lord for Manchester United finally pulling a win out of the hat. If that had not have happened I would have been in deep deep trouble. As it goes, I still had an absolute shocker of a week and fell to bottom of the league, but atleast it wasn’t quite as bad as it could have been, that United goal was essentially worth 13 points saving me from the -10. I could have been on -18 for the week!

Schoey: 0 points

Wrexham 5-3 Sheffield United (BIG BET) - Draw (0pts)
Millwall 0-0 Ipswich - Away (0pts)
Leicester 1-2 Watford - Home (0pts)
Blackpool 1-0 Doncaster - Home (3pts)
Plymouth 1-4 Reading - Home (-3pts)
Crystal Palace 0-1 Tottenham - Home (0pts)

Just as things seemed to be getting better for me, disaster strikes again. 0 points. Absolutely pathetic. I don’t really want to talk about it.

Well not a bad couple weeks at all. With 28 point week and first of the Twits to finally break the 20 point mark getting 5/6 correct. The most important part is the other top completely fell off and I’ve somehow managed to get 29 points back on Schoey and 35 points back on the Kieran. Just shows how two good weeks can change the league around.

Current Standings

1st) Schoey (Correct: 46, Points: 182)
2nd) Will (Correct: 45, Points: 169)
3rd) Kieran (Correct: 45, Points: 168)

Gameweek 20 Picks

Kieran

Leeds vs Manchester United (BIG BET) - Draw
After they saved me last week, I’ve decided to give them another chance and say United will get an away point in this one. I really need the big bet this week to get myself back into 2nd or even 1st place so I’m hoping for a big 10 points in this.

MK Dons vs Chesterfield - Home
After their big win against Swindon last week, I think this could be a pivotal period in their season. Going for another strong home performance and 3 more points for both them and me.

Fulham vs Liverpool - Away
Always got to go with a standard one in there somewhere, and this week it’s Liverpool. They’ve had a bit of a shaky period but I think they will start to come through that now and become title challengers again.

Notts County vs Gillingham - Home
Not sure why but I have always liked Notts, so I’m backing them to get an important home win against Gillingham this week in the fight for League Two promotion.

Newcastle vs Crystal Palace - Home
Could also be argued that Newcastle saved me last week by performing so crap against United. For that, I’ve decided to give them a bit of “help” and back them for a win. You’re welcome Newcastle fans, or not depending on how you look at it.

Derby vs Wrexham - Draw
A very very good win for Wrexham in the Big Bet last weekend. Bastards. This week I think they might come undone a bit but am going for a decent away point against a Derby side who have proved themselves more than capable in the Championship this season.

Schoey

Leeds vs Manchester United (BIG BET) - Draw
I am praying to the footballing gods for my first correct big bet in what feels like forever. I’ve gone for a draw but I am starting to worry Leeds may win it after Utd’s poor performance against Wolves.

Wolves vs West Ham - Away
Can West ham do what Man United couldn’t? Against a record low scoring team, I do hope so. Even if west ham have been awful themselves recently.

Fulham vs Liverpool - Away
Fulham have pulled together some good form recently. But I do think Liverpool may be too strong for them, even if they did struggle to finish their chances against Leeds in the week.

Newcastle vs Crystal Palace - Home
I was quite shocked to see Palace’s poor run of form recently. Although against tough opposition, it could still knock their confidence a bit. Newcastle have been pretty hit and miss as well, but it’s clear to see how much better they have been at home rather than away this season.

Bristol City vs Preston - Home
Preston have surprised me with how well they have done this season. Though I do think their recent run of decent form may lend itself to favourable fixtures. And away at Bristol at the moment is certainly not one of those. After Bristol have won their last couple of home games very comfortably.

Rotherham vs Mansfield - Away
Well almost every stat would point at an away win this game. Table position, home v away form throughout the season, but above all else, recent form. Mansfield have won their last 3 in a row. Whereas Rotherham haven't registered a point in their last 6 league games!

No doubt they will decide to show up this weekend!

Will

Leeds vs Manchester United (BIG BET) - Home
I just don’t think Man U have been that great, yes they have had some good results the last few weeks but the performances have been poor. Leeds on the other hand look to be putting really strong showings on but haven’t always found the winning goal. I’m going for a Leeds win and I reckon they will win comfortably.

Wolves vs West Ham - Home
Maybe a bit of a reach on this one but Wolves have showed some resurgence in their performances anyway maybe not so the results. Rob Edward’s has made them a bit harder to beat anyway and I think they can get their first win of the season. West Ham have been slipping and have found themselves in the bottom 3 with their last win coming back in November.

Bristol City vs Preston - Home
This pick has everything to do with Bristol winning 5-0 against Portsmouth. I know this is going to be a completely different encounter with both teams pushing for a play off spot. The home advantage here just sways me on the side of a Bristol Win.

Hull vs Watford - Home
Most improved team of the season Hull win this. Again though massive play off game for both teams. Watford currently on a run of 4 wins in a row with their last game beating Birmingham 3-0 which I never saw coming. Hull narrowly lost to Stoke last game.

Leicester vs West Brom - Home
Both teams are having a mixed season and with the squad Leicester have I’m not sure how they haven’t found a winning formula just yet. Looking at their last 5 games they have the same record winning 2 and losing 3. I’m going with the home team to win on this one I’m not fully convinced but think they have enough to beat the Baggies.

Notts County vs Gillingham - Home
Notts need a win here to maintain their push for a play off place and to finally get out of the run they are on with their last win coming 5 games ago against Grimsby. For the Gills it’s been tougher not winning in December and they seem to be just consolidating with a mid table finish and move on to next season.
