TWITS Picks Gameweek 9: Normal Service Resumes

Thank god the normal weeks are back! After getting through the Lower League weeks fairly unscathed, we’re all feeling pretty good. Will is catching up top spot, Schoey has got his first respectable week of points….and I’m still clinging on for dear life at the top. Read on for our review of last week and preview of Gameweek 9.

Review: Not an amazing week let’s be honest, but for a Lower League special like I keep saying, anything above 0 and you’re doing alright. I have fallen down the global table quite a bit in the last two weeks though which I’m not happy about so I’m hoping for a big week to get me back into it in GW9.

Review: 3/6 correct last week. Hopefully we can keep that going now. I’m getting bored of saying it, but still no correct big bet yet!

Review: The gap at the top is getting tighter only 6pts behind now. Another strong week with 4 out of 6 correct bringing in a lovely 17pts, we don’t mind that at all. I called the big bet again for my third week in a row, thank you Chesterfield for keeping the run alive. I knew they would get the result at home.

Big Bet

Southampton vs Portsmouth (2 Home, 1 Draw)

Kieran (Home): Obviously it’s a huge derby so anything could happen, but I can see Southampton coming away from this with the 3 points. I think this year for these 2 it’s going to be a case of both teams winning their respective games at home, so when this is the Big Bet next time, you know what I’ll be goi

Schoey (Draw): Big Bet derby where anything could happen really. But I can’t ignore Southampton’s home form. They are yet to drop a point through their first 4 home games.

Will (Home): First South Coast clash of the season for these two really looking forward to watching this one. I think the easy call is to say Saints home win but it’s not sitting well for me. Pompey are a difficult side to beat there now unbeaten in their last 3 games. Last season these sides drew both games and I think that will continue here again.

Going It Alone

Kieran

Bristol Rovers vs Barnet (Home): Sticking to my guns. I know I keep saying I keep supporting these teams and they keep losing (*cough* Plymouth) but I still think Rovers will come through for me. I promise Gas fans this will be the last time if not.

Blackburn vs Cardiff (Home): Bit of a gut feeling on this one, all of the fixtures this week are so bloody close that any analysis is pretty much just pissing in the wind. I think it really is anyone’s game here and we’re all hoping for a bit of luck, and that’s why I’ve gone quite safe for a few home wins.

Liverpool vs Manchester City (Draw): So much hype and build up for a match can only mean one thing surely? 0-0 bore draw incoming. Either that or it’s going to be a 7-0 spanking and I’m fucked.

SCHOEY

Charlton vs Bristol City (Away): Before the international break Charlton seemed to be struggling, with no wins and just two goals in their last 5 games. While Bristol have won 3 of their last 4 away fixtures.

Wycombe vs Luton (Home): Wycombe are unbeaten in their last 6 games, winning 4 of them. Luton have won just 1 of their last 6 league games. That 1 win being at home.

Hull vs Everton (Home): Hull are yet to lose at home with a very impressive start to the Premier League. Everton have also had a very solid start, but I still think they might get mauled by the Tigers away from home.

WILL

Cheltenham vs Salford (Away): I’ve now backed Salford two weeks running and they haven’t let me down so we’re going again. Cheltenham fell apart last week losing 2-0 in the last 80 minutes and had arguably their best player sent off in the 93rd so will be a big miss for them this weekend.

Middlesbrough vs Wolves (Home): Shame this one isn’t on tv this weekend. The international break I think came at a good time for Middlesbrough the previous two games they drew, I think they come back and find their winning form again. Going for a Will Lankshear brace for 2-0 win.
