TWITS Picks Gameweek 8: Schoey’s Pain Continues
Lower League Specials are always a difficult thing to predict, and if you get out with positive points, you’ve done pretty well to be honest. Unfortunately however, Schoey’s bad luck this season doesn’t seem to be running out anytime soon, as although he did not get a 0/6, he still managed to end the weekend on minus points. For me and Will though, it was a week of just ticking things along.
Current Standings
1st) Kieran (whelanox): Correct: 22, Points: 98
2nd) Will (chubbbaaa): Correct: 19, Points: 81
3rd) Schoey (schoey): Correct: 11, Points: 27
Gameweek 7 Results
KIERAN (11 pts)
Oldham 1-4 Salford (BIG BET) - Away (9pts)
York City 3-0 Gillingham - Draw (-3 pts)
Tranmere 1-1 Walsall - Draw (5 pts)
Stockport 1-0 Peterborough - Home (3 pts)
Plymouth 0-1 Burton - Home (0 pts)
Carlisle 2-5 Woking - Draw (-3 pts)
Review: Well that’s now 5 Big Bet successful picks in a row and another double digit week, and for being a Lower League Special, that’s pretty good going even if it was just 11 points. I’m a bit annoyed about the two 3 point deductions but I’ll take it, I just hope the second Lower League week goes the same or better.
SCHOEY (-4 pts)
Oldham 1-4 Salford (BIG BET) - Draw (-3 pts)
York City 3-0 Gillingham - Away (-3 pts)
Cheltenham 2-1 Chesterfield - Draw (0 pts)
Wycombe 2-2 Reading - Draw (5 pts)
Worthing 2-1 Halifax - Draw (0 pts)
Carlisle 2-5 Woking - Draw (-3 pts)
Review: I simply, don’t want to talk about it.
Back to normal this week. More sensible picks and probably still being crap.
WILL (12 pts)
Oldham 1-4 Salford (BIG BET) - Away (9pts)
York City 3-0 Gillingham - Home (3 pts)
Shrewsbury 2-2 Colchester - Away (0 pts)
Plymouth 0-1 Burton - Home (0 pts)
South Shields 4-0 Buxton - Home (3 pts)
Carlisle 2-5 Woking - Home (-3 pts)
Review: Big bet has saved me again, massive win for Salford away and to rub it in seeing the other two get -3 made it so much better. Surprise result for me was Woking travelling up to Carlisle and winning 5-2 great result for them terrible for me.

Big Bet
Chesterfield vs Tranmere (2 Draw, 1 Home)
Kieran (Draw): Two very even teams with very even and shakey form. Now, Chesterfield may be at home but Tranmere seem to know how to grind out a result having only 1 loss and 5 draws in 8 matches. I think this is going to be a classic away point where one team is much happier with the point than the other, and I’ll be extremely happy with my 10 if that’s the case.
Schoey (Draw): Although beating a very strong York side 2-0 at their last home game, Chesterfield haven’t had great home form. On top of that Tranmere seem to have drawn nearly every away game they have played this season!
Will (Home): Chesterfield all day long surely have to win this one. I will say they haven’t had the start to season I thought they would but their still in a good position 11pts in their opening 8 games, which is the same as Tranmere but in my opinion I think there punching. Chesterfield had a disappointing 2-1 loss to Cheltenham away last week and I’m backing them to get straight back to winning ways here.
Where We Clash
Rochdale vs Swindon (1 Home, 1 Away)
Kieran (Away): I’ll be honest, this one is one I quite often go for being an Oxford fan, as it means that if Swindon do win I’m not so upset by it as atleast I’ve got some points on Tipple, and if it’s the other way round, it’s worth losing some points to see that lot lose. It’s a win win….unless they draw.
Schoey (Home): Swindon have managed to draw 1 and lose 4 in their last 5. They have also only picked up 1 point away from home this season.. Not sure why Kieran would go away here tbh (secret Swindon fan)
Crewe vs Bristol Rovers (1 Home, 1 Draw)
Kieran (Draw): Rovers let me down a couple weeks ago after backing them quite a few times this season, and since then I’ve been a bit more wary of picking them. If that hadn’t happened I probably would have been confidently shouting for them again, but I’m going to go a bit more cautious and go with a nice away point for them. I still think they’re one of the favourites for promotion though.
Will (Home): Crewe are currently unbeaten in the league. Yes, there are 6 draws in there and only 2 wins, but this is a good opportunity for them. Rovers make the trip with consecutive defeats, conceding five goals in two games without scoring themselves.
Accrington vs Cheltenham (1 Home, 1 Draw)
Schoey (Away): Just need to look at the table to see why I’ve picked this tbh. Cheltenham are joint top on points, and have only lost once on the road. While Accrington are just 2 points off the relegation zone.
Will (Draw): Bit of gut feel on this one I know Cheltenham are flying high at the moment in second place with 15pts in their first 8 games. Compared to Accrington in 19th but there is some resilience there drawing their last 2 matches.
Going It Alone
Kieran
Kidderminster vs Sutton (Home): Kidderminster may have lost 2 on the trot, but I’m backing them to have a reaction here back in front of their home fans after a 3-1 drubbing at Boreham Wood. To be honest, Boreham Wood are already flying so I don’t think we can look too much into that result, which is why I’m confident of the 3 points for them and me here.
SCHOEY
Grimsby vs Shrewsbury (Home): Grimsby are currently unbeaten at home, winning 3 and drawing 1. While Shrewsbury have picked up just 1 point away from home this season.
Leyton Orient vs Plymouth (Away): Plymouth have started the season pretty strong. 7 points in 4 games away from home this season. Whereas Leyton orient have only managed to earn 3 points thru 4 games at home which is pretty poor.
Harrogate vs AFC Hornchurch (Home): Harrogate sit second with the best home form in the league. Hornchurch on the other hand while also doing well at home, have a fairly poor away form losing 4 out of 6 away games this season.
WILL
Burton vs Huddersfield (Away): Now a couple of weeks ago had this game taken place I would gone for the away win, but Burton’s form is much improved and this was highlighted by last week’s 1-0 victory against Plymouth away. Huddersfield have made a good start to the season but their slip-up to Bromley last week I think makes this tie a lot tighter.
